Colored Cascades

Backdate: 07/04/08 (Jour-75)
We spent a good deal of the afternoon sitting at Eddie's eating his excellent BBQ and telling lies around the table. Fr. Paul Spellman came over and gave Lindsay an excuse to talk about apologetics with a Catholic Priest. It was like seeing John Calvin and Thomas Aquinas go 3 rounds in the octagon (in Lindsay's dreams).

At some point in the evening we went to Neiswonger's house for food and Christopher's bug hunt in Costa Mesa. The Boy was intensely curious about fireworks until he saw them, to which he said, "They come here?" He was pretty sure the fireworks were trying to follow us home.
The beach was huge, expansive, and full of idiots blowing off fireworks (and Marijeroni) in any direction; obviously being a pedestrian didn't grant us any special spacial privileges.

Patriotism is a funny thing in Costa Mesa... I don't think people believe they've really honored their country until they've filled their streets with smoke and debris. Getting back home was itself a hazard, but all in good fun. Lights pretty. Fire bad.
